Kanshin - Admiration of Brown

$125.00

Sometimes the feel, the mood, the vibe comes along to just explore a color, this time it was brown. Kanshin, which means admiration in Japanese, is a word I made up to name this collage that just so happens to have some real definition that fits the work. This piece is also an exploration of the quilt or grid compositional format. What I like most about this piece is how the browns transition into red rust colors and in the other direction into black. The titan buff paint and thin line of book print provide the contrast and a calming element. The piece is very textural and is enhanced by the waxiness of the acrylic gel covered surface. It’s something you want to touch.

Mixed media of collage paper, photocopies, acrylic paint, acrylic ink, acrylic medium.
